Four Practices for Communion with Christ

These are all from Kevin DeYoung's book The Hole in Our Holiness, p. 128-133. The larger quote at the end is from the end of this chapter.

First, pursue communion with Christ through prayer.

Second, pursue communion with Christ through the Word of truth.

Third, pursue communion with Christ through fellowship with other Christians.

Fourth, pursue communion with Christ through partaking of the Lord’s Supper.

“If you are thoroughly underwhelmed with my four points for pursuing communion with Christ, I don’t apologize. It may sound boring or out-of-date, but it just happens to be true: the way to grow in your relationship with Jesus is to pray, read your Bible, and go to a church where you’ll get good preaching, good fellowship, and receive the sacraments…the only way to extraordinary holiness it through ordinary means.” (p. 134-135)

Let the saints be joyful in glory, let them sing aloud on their beds, let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind the kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron.
