Take Up and Read

Kevin DeYoung summarizes Derek Thomas on expository preaching in these blog posts: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Even if you are not a preacher, these are worth reading. Thomas dissects why some great preachers are not good models to follow. God gives different gift and blesses in different ways.

Jared Wilson wonderfully explains what a complementarian husband will look like. Ironically, he will be a man under authority.

Baranbas Piper wrote an article in World magazine saying that Chick-Fil-A appreciation day was not a good idea. Michael Kruger responds to that article here. It is a good example of a gracious rebuke.

Here is an article from Credenda/Agenda on how to witness to Mormons by a Christian in Provo, UT. I would love to see a similar article on how to witness to Muslims.

Richard Winters was battalion commander of Easy Company during World War II. His story is told in the book and the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers." Here are his ten rules of leadership.

Finally, here is an article by Ross Douthat on the politics of gay marriage. It is an interesting read by a secular columnist.

Let the saints be joyful in glory, let them sing aloud on their beds, let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind the kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron. Psalm 149:5-8
